About

Today, media and the economy exist as two entities that rely heavily on one another for growth. However, as technology has afforded new platforms, mass media has developed on a wider variety of platforms. To adapt to these new structures, the economy has developed new, unique models to take advantage of the resulting opportunities and to solve emerging problems. For our Mass Communication class at Furman University, we are examining the economics of media today and its effect on mass communication. As a group, we will examine media economics through five various yet interconnected subtopics: Advertising, YouTube Stars & New Internet Professions, Social Media, Print Media (Magazines & Books), and Audio and Film.
